Martin installed an electric shower unit and bath waste drainage for my dog grooming business, as well as plumbing in the unitâs sink and toilet facilities. The work was immaculate and completed quickly. Iâm very happy and will be using his services again if/when needed.

Martin fitted a new shower unit for us and did a really great job, the new pipework going in to the shower unit also looks really smart.
Martin also cleaned all the dust out of a wall mounted bathroom heater and replaced a broken pull cord. We thought we needed a whole new unit so we were very pleased that Martin was able to refurbish the existing one.
After the work was completed Martin cleaned up after himself, we were very impressed and would highly recommend him.

Martin is a very hard worker, has great attention to detail, happy to discuss customer requirements whilst carrying out work and he cleaned up thoroughly after he finished each day. Martin installed a new downstairs bathroom, radiator and serviced the central heating boiler. We feel that during the 35 years we have been householders, Martin has been the best tradesman we have employed. We wanted a perfect job, and he was just as determined to provide that. He consulted us regularly to make sure every detail was exactly as we wanted before proceeding. No mess was ever left - he cleaned up thoroughly each evening. His quotation, attention to detail, detailed invoice etc. was exceptional. Also a lovely bloke. We would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending him.

Martin has just re-done our bathroom and shower room. He works to a very high standard, with great attention to detail. He is very easy to talk to and likes to discuss every aspect of the job to make sure you get exactly what you want. Nothing is too much trouble for him. He even brings a kettle and makes his own tea! He has done an excellent job for us and we can totally recommend him.

I'm am a pensioner,and disabled so a bit worried about who comes to the house but I found martin to be totally reliable very honest and a gentleman and unlike other people iv had in to do work he cleaned up after himself I had nothing to do would not have know he had been and done the work so if your unsure like myself give martin a call you will not be disappointed takes pride in doing a good job very satisfied with his work and the way he makes you feel at ease highly recommended

Martin was recommended by my parents and he came to replace my boiler. A great job completed in the day and came out early to start the job before I went to work.. Also came back to replace a towel radiator for me.. Martin is very reliable, conscientious and does a great job every time. I would definitely recommend him .

As is the norm, Martin pulled out all the stops to fit us in and complete the necessary work before Christmas - he knew my daughter was desperate to move into her bedroom before Christmas and he didn't let her down. Martin removed a poorly fitted and leaking shower. He replaced this with a high quality shower unit, sink and toilet. He also tiled the walls. The work was completed to an excellent standard. He was a pleasant, hardworking tradesman. He was punctual and unobtrusive; ensuring that he left his work space tidy every day. I would definitely recommend his services to friends.

Found Martin through the trader website for previous work so had no hesitation in contacting him when we encountered a leak in our shower room. He was quick to attend to look at the problem and assess the work needed, he carried out the work in a quick & efficient manner leaving the room as if it had not been touched. Would certainly trust Martin to do any job to a high standard and will certainly use him again if he is available.

After being let down by a cowboy builder, Martin and retro tile thankfully came to our rescue.he promptly delivered a thorough estimate that was reasonable and we was very happy with. From the start of the project, Martin was very respectful of our concerns, especially due to our previous disaster, and although the majority of plumbers would not have undertaken a project previously started by another, he rose to the challenge and truly saved the day. He worked hard and I hardly noticed he was there, tidying up as he went. I can honestly say we are thrilled with his work and attention to detail and would not hesitate in recommending him. In fact his number will stay permanently in my phone book.

We had a problem with a non-flushing toilet and a stuck wash-basin tap and the imminent arrival of an elderly relative for a short stay. From calling Martin on Saturday afternoon, both problems were fixed within 24 hours. Martin repaired the toilet with a spare part, supplied and fitted, rather than shrugging his shoulders and telling us that we needed a new toilet. The same with the tap. He was polite, courteous and ultra professional, with everything cleaned up after and no mess anywhere else. I agree with everything good written about him on this website. I can thoroughly recommend Martin from Retro-Tile.

We have used Martin quiet a few times now. He was out of town for a week but we waited for him to repair our boiler. 2 other companies (1 on this site) said we needed a new boiler and quoted ã2200. What can I say about Martin - He's a professional in what he does no shortcuts are made with this man it's done right every time.
He gives you sound advice plenty of options to what needs doing and prices.
he's punctual very tidy removes all waste and leaves you at the end of the day with a working bathroom or kitchen to use on a night.
Martin re-located our boiler because we are having a conservatory being built and did a great job, we are now booking in with him to fit a new kitchen soon in 2016.
If you want a recommended fitter/gas engineer Martin fits the bill.

We found Martin to be friendly, nothing was to much trouble for him. He is hardworking and he kept us informed every step of the way. His attention to detail goes far beyond any other trademan i have used in the past. Nothing is to much trouble for him. He did exactly what we wanted and also gave us some advise which made the bathroom even better. He is an excellent craftsman who did a superb job installing our new bathroom i will be using Martin again for any other jobs that need doing.

I called Martin early in the morning as water dripped through our ceiling from a faulty boiler. Martin took the call and was at our home in 30 minutes to look at the boiler. He then remained working on the boiler for several hours until he was sure it was working correctly. He was very friendly and conscientious. I would not hesitate to recommend or use Martin in the future.

Martin to the rescue! Leak from shower - Martin was there the same day as I was in a panic. Martin fitted me in although he was busy that day and the leak was sorted within the hour. While he was there I asked him to quote for another couple of jobs I needed doing - what a bonus to find out he fits doors and fireplaces - If only he did decorating as well! I would not trust anyone else!

We are extremely happy with the work done and with Martin creating the whole package. At the start our ideas of what the finished toilet would look like were not as a professional like Martin envisaged giving us the 'look' we
had seen in the books he left us. We found Martin to be capable, trustworthy, punctual, respectful and a clean worker.
The toilet and sink being re-connected at the end of each working day.
At the start of the job it was hard to imagine the difference Martin's expertise
would change things for the better.

After checking the Council website we realised Martin was not an average workman.
Before every stage Martin explained all the options available to us. The job started and progressed as planned with the minimum of noise. The walkways had sheets and after the working day all the dust was removed. Martin also connected the bath and sink daily to ensure we had the use.
We found Martin to be pleasant, punctual, a clean worker and a gentleman who could be left and not need supervision.
The bathroom was transformed with Martins ideas and attention to detail leaving a room to be proud of.

I picked Martin from the Trader Register after reading the fantastic reviews. We originally booked a consultation in January and Martin scheduled us in for the first available date in June due to his busy schedule. During this time we had several in depth consultations/contacts and his advice was well appreciated. The work on our bathroom has now been completed to an exceptional high standard. During the week Martin kept me informed at every stage of the fitting. I would thoroughly recommend Martin to anyone who wishes to have a high started of work carried out, even his paperwork is itemised and receipted articularly. I would not go to another trader now especially for all aspects of plumbing/tiling and bathroom fitting and would be willing to wait until he could fit us in. A lovely chap who is proud of his work.

Previously Martin has installed a full bathroom and a new boiler system for me. He is a perfectionist in everything he does and the cleanest worker I have ever known. Most recently he has undertaken a job in my home to put right a shower room fitted by a 'cowboy' bathroom and wetroom specialist. I have every confidence in Martin and would rather wait for him to fit my job in than go elsewhere - based on the feedback on this trade register I waited 6 months for him to take on my bathroom (the first job I employed him to do) and now having experienced his work several times would do so again - he is definately worth the wait! Can recomend him highly enough, I have recommended him to family members for whom he also installed a new boiler and I'm just about to contact him to see if he can fit a job in for another friend!

I would recommend Martin to everyone.
We got Martin in to look at a few leaks we had in the bathroom and ensuite after having water come through our kitchen ceiling after running a bath, she shower also had a small leak too which he has fixed. He has done a fantastic job and is a very tidy worker. I was happy to leave him in the house whilst we were at work - he is very reliable and his OCD means that he has exceptionally high standards - I am fussy myself and cannot fault a thing he's done so far.
Martin goes above and beyond what you would expect from a tradesman. After getting our boiler replaced (also by Martin!) we realised our shower also had a fault (we thought it was because the old boiler was on its way out but it turned out to be the actual shower). The thermostatic cylinder needs replacing, unfortunately it is not a standard size cylinder and the company that makes our shower went out of business a few years ago. Martin has been looking into possibilities of new cylinders and has managed to find one that looks as though it will fit. Most plumbers merchants don't sell the size we need. Martin has been looking worldwide to find one that will suite our shower. Most people would have just said that you can't get them and then left us with the only option of buying a new shower.
Martin really does care about his customers and as such if I EVER need anything doing in the future, Martin will be my first point of call; even if it meant waiting a while for him to be free to do the job if he was busy, because I know that the job would be done to such a high standard.

I would recommend Martin to everyone. Our old boiler decided to die on us so we needed a new one. Martin looked into the specs of the old boiler to find a new one that would be as good or better than our last one (before it broke!). He gave us a few to choose from and he ordered it for us and was here to fit it within just a day or two from our old one giving up the ghost.
We decided not to put the new boiler where the old one was to give us more cupboard space in the utility room. He removed the old boiler and fitted the new one in the garage. He also found a tiny leak on the water inlet pipe where the mains water comes into the house. He switched the water off at the street and fixed this leak for us too. I'm sure somebody else wouldn't have bothered as it wasn't leaking inside the house, but Martin fixed it anyway :)

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Martin. He re-sited and installed a new boiler, new thermostatic radiator valves on the radiators and fitting a replacement fan in the downstairs WC and a replacement flood light outside. He went the extra mile for me. He arrived when he said he would and was so tidy that I am sure my house is cleaner than before he arrived!I will certainly ring him again with any future business.

Unfortunately, the pressure on my boiler went yesterday afternoon and it would not repressurise. This meant we had no hot water so we contacted Martin and he arrived at 6.45 pm even though he was fully booked and was due to finish work at 6.30pm. He stayed until 9.30pm to make sure the boiler was working again. Excellent service.

Thought long & hard before submitting this review, not because we are anything but delighted with our new bathroom, but because the more that word gets out about the quality of Martin's work, the longer his waiting list will be next time we want a job doing. The painstaking effort & attention to detail that he put into every aspect of our bathroom project was a joy to behold; after numerous experiences of slipshod work & corner cutting from other so called tradesmen over the years, his "can do - anything's possible" attitude was like a a breath of fresh air. Martin turned up every day without fail, he answered my many questions patiently & with good humour & he cleaned up every evening, never once leaving us without a functioning shower or toilet. Martin's final bill, when it arrived, contained no nasty surprises even though a couple of unforeseen issues with the job did; I would recommend Retro Tile to anyone - just please wait until Martin's done my kitchen first.

We had a DIY disaster and drilled through a hidden gas pipe. Martin came within an hour after I called him at 16:30 on a Sunday evening. He reassured us that everything would be fine and he could get the heating back on quickly, and he did!

WOW, where to start...
I called Martin to come and give us a quote for a walk in shower. We told him what we wanted and after some very good advice from him we arranged for him to plan, order and then fit it all.
He turned up at the time (and day!) he said he would with everything he ordered, no disappearing to places for bits and bobs. The results are outstanding, he is very good at what he does and is a true perfectionist, you can tell he's been in the trade for years. The quailty of his work is exceptional, every detail is spot on. He also did extra work that he didnt charge for. We have already arrange for him to come and fit our new gas fire and he is also going to quote a family member on a full new bathroom and ensuite. I would recommend Martin in a heart beat. What a great guy he is!

Martyn provides an excellent service. We have had him fit our boiler and return to provide other work for us in our home. He is clean and tidy and is excellent at his job. Would recommend his services to anybody. I would also like to add from a female point of view that I feel safe when he is working in my home and that he shows you where the fault is etc without patronising and shows you the parts he is replacing. I can't praise him enough and will defo ask him back to complete further work in the future.

Martin came to look at our leaking upstairs toilet as soon as we rang him to see what needed to be done. Arrived the following day as promised and we were completly satisfied with the repair he carried out. I have no hesitation in reccomending Martin to anyone.

Martin did a first class job of refurbishing the bathroom, very efficient and hard working. Gave a lot of advice regarding design and layout,and sorted out a lot of unforeseen problems without any fuss. I would not hesitate to recommend Martin for any work required. Just a pity he is booked up so far in advance - I need my kitchen doing!!!

I was experiencing some unusual behavior with my shower and was at a complete loss as to what to do. I researched for a reliable plumber on this website and was impressed by Martyn's reviews. Struggling for time i e-mailed Martyn a description of my problem at approx 07.15 in the morning. Martyn responded promptly and advised me what the problem was, basically my shower needed replacing He stated that although he was working away he would call round when he returned to perform diagnosis but he didn't believe it was necessary as he recgnised the problem. I purchased a new shower and on fiiting it the problem was solved. Martyn could have refused to diagnose this issue over via e-mail insisting on a visit and a subsequent charge. He didnt do this and although my relationship has been merely an couple of e-mail exchanges i felt comfortable, confident and trusted Martyn completely. I will definatley being using him again for any plumbing issues. Thank you Martyn

We called Martin out to fix our cooker. We were so pleased with the work martin did. He was very good in everyway good workmanship, clean and tidy, friendly and all for a reasonable price. Martin fitted us in for a visit when our vanity light came on and wouldn't go off! (Not a light he had fitted - a 'ropey bathroom fiter I had used before I knew Martin existed!!)He visited very quickly when asked in the very busy Christmas period and sorted the problem out for us by fitting a new switch. he called within half an hour because I was worried when the boiler did not seem to turn off when i tried and it was on his way home. This gentleman was recommended to me by my neighbour because she was so pleased with his work. My boiler was not faulty after all. He said it was just the fan being tempermental.

This is the 2nd time we have used Martin at Retro-Tile, he fitted a boiler and a complete bathroom installation in our previous house and his work was impeccable. This time he fitted a brand new boiler in our new house and performed a minor miracle by installing electrical points in our kitchen - remving tiles and re-fitting them making it look like the electrics had always been there. We still dont know how he did it without breaking or damaging a tile! Martin worked through the weekend to ensure the job was completed and he was as efficient as always. Trustworthy and professional. We will always continue to use Martin and continue to recommend him. He is a credit to his trade.

Whilst Martin was installing my bathroom I also asked him to rectify a botch job done by a previous 'professional bathroom fitter ie 'cowboy'. Martin did a brilliant job, and very quickly, he did extra to ensure that the job was finished off properly and charged less than he quoted as the job was quicker than he expected - a genuine honest man -I can't recommend him highly enough!

We had to wait several months until Martin could fit us in but it was well worth the wait. I now have a fabulous bathroom! Martin was really helpful when we were planning and went out of his way to provide options. He takes great pride in his work and it shows. And the tidiest tradesman I've ever known - you wouldn't know he'd been there. So impressed I asked him for quotes for other work before he'd even finished the bathroom.

Martin Gothard came out on short notice to relocate a gas pipe, focussed on doing good & proper work, willingly discuss options and work, seems to know his stuff, reasonably priced, my impression is that Martin's delivery exceeded my (high) expectations, would use again in future.

Retro-Tile did some remedial work in an already established disabled facility (wet room).
ââ¬ÅThe work had been originally carried out on a disablement facilities grant by a builder, who was shockingly on the accredited builder list for grant workââ¬Â.
Martin uncovered and pointed out some shoddy and in one case, unsafe building practices that had been carried out by our previous (cowboy) ââ¬Åmy wordsââ¬Â builder.
After initial assessment for my personal requirements, and the inspection of existing facilities. Martin did the necessary work in the wet room to make it safe, and suitable for me. My wife and I cannot thank Martin enough for his finished product.

Martin from Retro-Tile did a first class job on our bathroom, He was most helpful from the onset with the layout and design. The ongoing workplace was kept clean & tidy.
Being a qualified Health & Safety Advisor, I can state that all regulations were adhered to at all times, and where required; certification of work carried out was provided.
I would not hesitate to recommend him to others, including family & friends.
Retro-Tile under the supervision of Martin is a very trustworthy and excellent trade provider, and after looking at the finished product my wife and I canââ¬â¢t praise him enough.
We have asked Martin to carry out other work for us, and after seeing the quality of his finished work, can understand that he has a full schedule of work to complete before he can get back to us. I know how hard it can be to decide who to get in to carry out a job that is going to cost but all I can say is Martin is absolutely fantastic and I will never use any other plumber. He is reliable, friendly and nothing is a problem. He works around your needs and once he goes home of an evening you wouldn't even know he had been there! I'd asked Martin to quote me for fitting a completely new fireplace as well including the removal of my old hole-in-the-wall fire. He gave me a great quote, it was more than competetive and he said his labour costs wouldn't rise should he hit any unexpected glitches. So all this, along with his friendly and professional manner, nicely complimented with all of the great reviews he has on the Trader Register, mean't that I had no doubts in getting Martin in to do the job.
It was a great choice.
Due to a number of hidden problems behind my old fireplace, it took Martin more than double the time to firstly remedy the problems and then completely install my new fireplace. Martin was true to his word and only charged me the labour he originally quoted me. A fantastic gesture from Martin and very rare to see elsewhere in this day and age.
The completed fireplace looks absolutely stunning and is a testament to all of Martin's hard work and professionalism. I feel rather lucky to have stumbled upon Martin via the Trader Register, and I wouldn't hesitate in asking him to carry out any future work at my house. My only problem would be his getting his availability, he's a very busy man!

I needed 2 old gas flue heaters removing from our upstairs bedrooms. Work required was the removal of the heaters, cap off the gas supply to both under the floor boards, and make good the resulting holes in the wall. Martin did a fantastic job, he's a lovely fella, very clean and tidy, and you wouldn't have known he'd been in my house after he'd finished. He also went the extra mile making good the render to the outside of the house to match what is there currently - something which I told Martin that I would sort out myself. Very impressed!

After spending 24 hrs with no heating or hot water we couldn't' go on any longer. Looked on the trade register as its daunting having to call on someone for a repair. Martin from retro tile couldn't have been more helpful....came out on the same day (a Sunday).....got the heating working....arranged a further visit to look into the problem further. All in all a great service from a really helpful man.

Martin removed old oven and hob and replaced with a free standing cooker.This involved cutting and re-fitting worktop and plinth. All work was completed in a safe and professional manner with meticulous care and attention to detail. I have his name on my records now and would reccomend him to anyone . He goes the extra mile.

Martin was recommended to us by a member of our family, who was also very pleased with him. Martin replaced all the plumbing in our en suite, strenghtened and tiled the floor and fitted a wet room shower for us. Martin had previously done some work for us and we had no hesitation in asking him to come and help us out of a fairly dire situation. The job he did was AGAIN excellent and I honestly do not know what we would had done if he hadn't helped us out. Martin, called out at short notice to help us with a leak in the bathroom.
We also had a problem with our heating/boiler which happend when Martin called to do the origonal job in the bathroom. The heating was back on in no time and the problem diagnosed swiftly.The service we recived was all round excellent.

Martin has a vast knowledge and expertise. He quickly diagnosed the boiler fault and came back as promised the following day with new parts. He is a genuine, honest, caring person. Nothing seems too much for him. I certainly will recommend to anyone.
I have had so called tradesmen in the past but Martin is far the best. I wish I knew of him years ago.

First class service, fast and accurate diagnosis of the boiler failure, within the hour the part had been sourced and Martin had restored our hot water and heating. Would recommend him time and time again thank you.

We have used Mr Gothard to fit our new central heating boiler and then again to fully refit our bathroom. He is an exceptional tradesman - professional, friendly and considerate. He is a fantastic perfectionist & trustworthy. We have already earmarked him to refit our kitchen in 2012 and continue to recommend him. Absolutely first class from start to finish.

Martin responded very quickly to an emergency problem with our toilet cistern, calling in on his way home, despite me contacting him very late in the day. He located and repaired the problem, providing a replacement for the broken part immediately. Job done in 10 minutes! Excellent, considerate work and I will definitely use Retro Tile again and again. Highly recommended.

Martin repaired the gas boiler - turned up on time - did a sterling job (the boiler needs replacing!). Explained what he did & why was courteous & friendly, great job!

As a pensioner of many years i have had all sorts of workmen in my properties, but never one as trustworthy and first class work,as Martin from Retro-Tile and i would recommend them to anyone with confidence.
