The St Helens Borough Council Trader Register has been set up for the benefit of both local consumers and businesses.
It is not an approval scheme but is a register of businesses in the St Helens area.
The Trader Register is operated by Trading Standards and provides consumers with a list of local businesses. We and partner agencies also promote the Trader Register, to help local residents find local, reputable trades people.
In order to be registered with the scheme you will have to demonstrate a commitment to fair and honest trader, provide a good customer service and work alongside Trading Standards.
Traders also need to have a minimum of £2 million Public Liability Insurance and £5 million Employers Liability, if applicable.
Traders must agree to abide by our Code of Practice which is available on this website. If you are interested in joining, please take a look at the Code of Practice, as this stipulates exactly what is expected of a trader signing up to the register.
We do check that traders comply with the consumer protection legislation applicable to their business and you may be asked to provide certain paperwork to Trading Standards for checking, before we accept your application.
If you do join our Trader Register, you will be able to use the logo in your advertising along with other Member Benefits.
