The Business Approval Register works to support Local Authority Trading Standards Services to provide benefits to all stakeholders including not only the local authority but also businesses, consumers and third sector organisations.

Business Approval aim to maintain the quality of business members, working to promote the high standards achieved and maintained to consumers looking to purchase goods and services.  

We have developed a comprehensive Code of Practice and defined service standards.  We have established a primary authority partnership with Wirral Council Trading Standards, and work under a Memorandum of Understanding with other local authorities who are invited to take part in the overall governance of the Business Approval Register.

The Business Approval Register is currently supported by:

• Stockport Council, Trading Standards
• Wirral Council, Trading Standards
• Cumbria County Council, Trading Standards  

The Business Approval team are working to increase the network of authorities, providing support to businesses and optimising the choice of reliable businesses for consumers.

The Business Approval Team will also deal with any concerns which arise where consumers have used our members, providing first and second tier advice and support, as well as intervention to swiftly resolve issues where necessary.
