It is really important that customers using businesses which are members of the Trader Register to provide feedback on their experience.
Feedback helps potential customers to choose a trader when using the Trader Register. It also tells traders how they are doing in the views of their customers and allows them to make adjustments if needed. It also helps Trading Standards who manage the scheme to keep a check on how the traders who are members are doing.
Customers can provide feedback via this website, or the business you have used may have given you a paper feedback form which has postage paid to be sent to Trading Standards.
Customers leaving feedback must provide their name and contact details. Your name and contact details will NOT APPEAR on the website. Anonymous feedback will not be published.
Trading Standards do make checks to ensure feedback is legitimate and you may receive contact from a member of staff to confirm this. Unfortunately, we will be unable to display feedback if the trader has not actually been employed and completed work as the form requires a rating for customer service, quality of work and the time taken to complete.
The feedback provided is added to the trader’s page on the website. This is then available for other customers to read and helps them to choose a trader.
If you have had an unhappy experience with a Trader Register member, you must not use the Rate a Trader feedback facility to raise a complaint. Adverse comments included in feedback will not be published prior to investigation by Trading Standards. If you are unhappy with goods and services supplied by a Trader Register Member you should initially contact the trader to discuss a suitable resolution. If the matter remains unresolved advice on consumer rights and remedies should be obtained from Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline. If it is not possible to resolve the issue with the trader, consumers can report to Trading Standards using the Make a Complaint facility on the website. We will not publish feedback that is of a personal or defamatory nature.
