Some local authority Trading Standards Services support the principles of the Business Approval Register but choose not to participate as a partner.

Whether local authorities choose to become a partner or not, we ensure that Trading Standards Services are kept informed of those businesses applying to become a Business Approval member, within their local authority area.

Businesses will not become an ‘Approved’ member until the Trading Standards Service in which the business is based has been consulted and we are satisfied there are no concerns, otherwise the business will become a ‘Supported’ member of the participating local authority trading standards services.

These checks are in addition to the stringent vetting that we will have conducted prior to this, as part of the application process.
